Another in our continued series of videos that are sure to embarrass Nyan when he’s older (sorry, kid): the boy in a bath. Not a whole lot going on here, I suppose, just Nyan admiring himself in the mirror, and making little noises, and vamping for the camera. As he does.

Sweet 16!
Happy 16-month birthday to the young man who is known variously as Ruggie, Sugarbear, HRH, Pumpy, Buddy, Dude, Thar Lay Nyan, Sir Hugs-a-lot, or simply Nyan Thomas. Here’s the man himself – one year ago today, and today (technically a couple days ago, but the point is the same!).
Today’s Video: Tub
Bathtime is supposed to be a time of winding down, and relaxing and getting ready for sleep. Not tonight though, as you can see in this video. Young Nyan Thomas was full of beans (as he is pretty much all the time lately), splishin’ and a-splashin’ and, most notably, admiring himself in his reflection in the chrome thingie that you turn to make the tub stopper go down. Nyan Thomas at Play (three videos)
Ever wonder know what goes on in that two-hour or so window between when Nyan gets home from ‘school’ (i.e. nursery, a.k.a. day care)? Of course you do. Well, here you go. A trio of videos showing the young man in all his playtime glory.
First up, check him as he bounces from toy to toy, then demands that Daddy open his toy chest, then goes through that toy chest, looking for the perfect toy:

Haircut! (with pictures and videos)
Last Sunday was a big day for young Nyan Thomas. Most importantly of course was his first real baby steps, which you read about in this post. But Sunday was also the day of his first real haircut! He’d gotten haircuts before: once back in December as a medical procedure, essentially – we shaved his head as a way to make his cradle cap medicine more effective (it worked like a charm, too) – and just a few weeks ago we gave him a quick trim over the bathroom sink because some of his hair was growing over his ears and bothering him.

Today’s video: New Toy!
Daddy returned from Zurich with some Swiss chocolate for Mommy and a new toy for Nyan! It’s this simple wooden thing with three blocks – triangle, circle and square – that you put into slots in the wood box, and then you press down on a lever within the box so the blocks can slide out. It’s simple and fun – and here’s our boy playing with it. He doesn’t yet have it entirely figured out, but check out the intensity with which he examines the box, and his various creative methods of getting the blocks out of it…
Breaking News: Standing
Our boy doesn’t yet walk on his own – not yet – though he’s gotten quite good at walking around with one- or two-handed help. So he’s close. We’re not concerned, really. But still, he’s nearly 16 months; it’s time to walk soon, pal.

Today’s Video: Yogurt! Plus, a Story or Two.
We write you today from the charming Swiss city of Zurich, where Daddy is working for a couple of days. There’s a story to tell about that – but first, here’s a video from the other day, in which our hero insists that he can handle his pot of yogurt himself, thank you very much. He’s got the concept down – stick the spoon in the pot, get some yogurt on it, put spoon in mouth, repeat – but the execution is not quite there just yet. But he’s learning, and you gotta love his determination. Check out the video:
