Earlier this month, we decided our weekly Sunday family fun activity would be a daytrip to Cambridge. It’s only about an hour north of where we live, and it was a beautiful bright sunny fall day. A bit chilly, and quite windy, but otherwise gorgeous, as you’ll see.
We didn’t do anything special – just wandered around the town, including lunch at a riverside pub.
And we visited King’s College Chapel, an absolutely stunning, 500-year-old cathedral. Even Nyan, despite being an easily-distracted two year old, was impressed. We think.
Cambridge is home to lots and lots of huge expanses of bright green grass. Unfortunately, they all say ‘Keep off the grass.’ But our young man can’t read, so off he went. Oh, sure, we tried to stop him, but once he started running, we just let him run. We figured he’d stop and check to make sure we were chasing him – and that he’d turn around and come back once he saw he was alone. Sure enough.
Of course, no matter where we go, no matter how hallowed or prestigious the location, Nyan wouldn’t be Nyan if he didn’t jump and splash in a puddle.
Did Nyan enjoy his daytrip to Cambridge? Well, if the standard of measurement is how exhausted he is, here he is as we got back into the car, and three minutes later. What do you think?
