Nyan Thomas and Auntie Zuzu, playing and laughing. Who needs toys when you’ve got empty yogurt cups?
Our Boy in the (pardon the pun) Swing of Things
At a playground in Colchester. Look at that chillaxed attitude! And, okay, I fully recognize that as a doting parent, I’m expected to say things like this, but: does he look great in a hat or what?
Basket!
Our boy has boundless energy – he seems to get more every day; clearly, we are in deep trouble here… – and loves to laugh and play. He’s also very easily amused. Just plop the kid in a small laundry basket and let the fun begin!
(Please forgive the fact that every one of these photos features a drool-covered chin. We do wipe it off of him! Then two seconds later…)
Nyan Thomas and Phwa Phwa’s Birthday
Nyan was blessed to be in Colchester for his Phwa Phwa’s birthday party earlier this month. It was, from all reports, a grand affair, and pretty much the whole family turned out. (Well, aside from one fella who was stuck back in New York…)
Here’s the whole K. clan (click on photos to enlarge):
The birthday cake (Nyan helped blow out the candles):
Here’s the boy with his Aunt Laura:
And finally, a couple of shots of the boy surrounded by Uncle Sean, Aunt Emerald, and his cousins Hetty and Pop-Pop:
Our boy is eight! (months)
Yes, it’s Happy eight-month Birthday to Nyan Thomas! My, how far we’ve come. He’s crawling, he’s putting things in his mouth, he’s exploring his world, he loves to be outside, he’s got far more energy than he knows what to do with. It’s been a wild and crazy and wonderful eight months. Here, some recent photos of the young-but-growing-up man…
Where in the World is Nyan Thomas?
Kid’s got more frequent flyer miles than most adults! Yes, he’s back in the UK for the next couple-few weeks. Mommy has some career-related things to take care of over there, so off they went.
It is, as you can imagine, a bit quiet here at NyanThomas.com Global Headquarters on the Mean Streets of Park Slope, Brooklyn. But fret not, dear blog reader; we have a bunch of photos and videos to share in the coming days, and we’ll also be sharing fresh new content from the UK as well. So don’t forget to check back soon!
In the meantime, a couple photos from the trip to the airport, and an anecdote: I drove them to JFK and dropped them off at the terminal to start the check-in procedure while I parked the car and brought the luggage in. When I got up to the Virgin Atlantic check-in area, a few check-in people were standing there, ready to direct me to where I needed to go. I explained that my wife was already checking in and that I was just bringing the bags… “Oh, yes, they’re right over there,” the woman exclaimed. “You have an adorable son!”
Yes, it seems that Nyan Thomas had turned on the charm. And he kept it going, too, as we finished the check-in procedures. He was all smiles and giggles at the women behind the counter. And they were all smiles and giggles right back.
It did not, unfortunately, land them a free upgrade, but hey.
Here, then, photos from just before Nyan and Mommy headed through security.
And a screenshot from a Skype call the other day…
Dragon in Chinatown
The other day, we had an appointment near Chinatown in Manhattan, so I left work for a bit while Beatrice and Nyan came in from Brooklyn. Afterwards, I headed back to work while they strolled through the city and came across some sort of dragon parade. (I must confess that I’m not at all sure of the meaning or significance, but it looks pretty cool nonetheless). Some pics from the scene:
Today’s video: Kickin’ it
A budding musician? Maybe. Check it out as our boy shows off his vocal range (limited, so far) and the snare drum-like sounds he gets from the rhythmic tapping of his feet.
